about

String of Yeasts (ft K. Servazzi, W. Anomalus, K. Humilis and S. Cerevisiae)
This piece introduces the voices of the four predominant yeasts found in The 500. First, we hear each strain motif layering in, offset by one note- K. Servazzi, W. Anomalus, K. Humilis and S. Cerevisiae. K. Servazzi and W. Anomalus grow quickly at first and continue climbing throughout the growth time frame. These two strains have the highest notes in the piece - we can easily hear W. Anomalus soaring to a peak in places. K. Humilis and S. Cerevisiae growth profiles, while different initially, both decrease at the end of their profiles. K. Humilis grows slowly and not much (less than .5) and is the lowest voice in the piece. The remainder of the piece has interplay and competition for resources ending with S. Cerevisiae dominating and leading off a final articulation of each yeast motif. Then they all take final bows together.
