about

This is the first release from the idiosyncratic Beats of Dejacusse (iBoD). Carnatic Water Music is our signature soundscape, which we have played for five years. The recording was done in the Sunra Room through the Green Meanie microphone shared by all players. We changed location in the room to create ambient movement in the sound. We did three runthrough recordings, which I mixed together with the original soundtrack. This technique allowed for some overlap and synchronicity in each voice - in other words, we could play with ourselves!
11th Harmonic is a Nested Soundscape, a term for a recorded capture of a soundscape improvisation at a particular time, in a particular space. This NS was captured on the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI. We played this piece to dislodge any stuck energies around that anniversary and, hopefully reset the time fractal of this event! A Nested Soundscape includes all of the sound events happening in the moment in addition to the soundscape and improvisations. Our location was Durham Central Park by the ironworks studio. Jim Kellough performs an amazing extended digital horn solo that is the seam that holds this soundscape together! Enjoy!
